I would actually like to see how the picture looked before they came to photoshop. The more I watch tutorials and so on I think the shot doesn’t have to be perfect at all, photoshop can fix it all.
Really would be cool if you could make an example with an before and after shot

Well, you still need the composition, angle and a nice camera helps too

Just think about the picture with less contrast, less color vibrancy and maybe he cropped as well.

f1.8 is not a small aperture its a large aperture. the smaller f number the larger the aperture f20 would be a really small aperture but would keep everything in focus.

Hi Gavin, one thing that I’d like to ask, you’re obviously using a nifty fifty – how the heck do you manage to get the focus so sharp at f1.8 when you are hand holding? I’ve found it really frustrating, the slightest body movement causes the pics which I thought were sharp to be quite out of focus when I look at them.

Can you please tell me regarding this video on that clip where you saying that you’re not plant expert…how did you make this effect with water and reflection in that leaf?? I know that you have done this in Photoshop but how??

I really like the video and the shots taken. It would be very helpful if you explained a bit more of the setting you are using. I know you have talked about appature a bit but running down the ISO, Ap, Shutter and lens would be helpful. I am a beginner and although I have gotten some good shots I have not gotten even close toyours. I too would love to see the shots at the back of the camera and then post production stuff.

why do you say small aperture, 2.5 is a big aperture

Interesting that you say a wide open aperture is f/8 when actually that would be a smaller one. A wide aperture for the 50mm lens you’re using is f/1.8, which allows you to have a shallow depth of field.

Just thought I’d clear that one up.

@N6600 another way if you want an even vignette is use the rectangular select box and feather the selection (the number depends on picture size and personal preferences) and just draw a box about an inch away from the edge, and then hit delete
iirc there’s a quicker way to do it in CS2, but i have photoshop 7
